I went to the screening of "Las Hijas" last night and wanted to remark on how incredible the film was. Not only were Tanya, Laura, Joanna & Kris eloquent, honest and beautiful but every aspect of the film was top notch.....the sound, the music, the editing...really really good. Maria & and her husband did an amazing job. You can tell they put their blood, sweat and tears into it. Maria, thank you for making this film. It is so much needed and I truly hope you are able to circulate it and have it be seen by many. So many families would benefit in seeing this film.

If any of you can make it to any of the other screenings, I highly recommend it. It is us in a nutshell. It is so validating and real...and hey you get to see a little of Colombia : ) Maria, again, a sincere thanks for making the film, for the screening last night and for having an interest in something you have not experienced first hand. Excellent Excellent job.

Wow!, being at the screening of "Las Hijas" last night in the East Village in NYC was an honor and a privilege. How amazing it was to see so many of my feelings and the emotions that I experienced growing up as a Colombian adoptee (granted Un Hijo) validated right there on the big screen in front of my eyes. This experience was very special for me. I sat there with tears the entire time, as I watched these three amazing young ladies tell their stories. They are powerful stories. What's more remarkable is that their stories are not so different than that of my own. More amazing still is that our stories are still unfolding...

I want to thank the stars of the film for having the courage to talk and to tell your stories. Of course, I have to send a huge thank you to Maria Quiroga, the filmmaker, for her beautiful vision, her hard work (a 5-year production) and just for getting what is so unique about the adoption story.

For all of you who have the opportunity to see it, you should not let this one pass you by. In fact, make it a priority. Adoptees, adoptive parents, those who have family or friends who are adopted or who are in the professional field of adoption, this film is for/about you. Bring your close friends too, it may help them to understand you a little better. I plan to go to the next NYC screening on May 7 and I am hoping to bring my mom with me.

Maria, I dreamt all last night about the film and heard those words in my head a lot, an important story to tell, and one that hit a lot of nerves for me. The story was wonderfully told, very respectful and real.

Thanks, Caroline

[Maria,] I wanted to say thank you once again for telling us about your film and congratulations on the successful screening. I am so glad that I saw it and thought it was excellent and touched on so many of the issues that affect international adoptees. Your film triggered a lot of emotions for me and I was really moved, particularly by Tanya's mother. Her love for her daughter was so apparent and it was very touching. The film really brought to light how universal the issues are, regardless of one's birth country. I could completely relate to almost everything that the three women talked about.

Thank you for making this important film and congratulations again.

Take care, Ann

Bravo! To you and the young women in "Las Hijas". I just finished watching it and wanted to let you know that the film touched on so many topics of importance to children and parents in adoptive families -- and although my daughter is from Latin America I think that it is not at all limited to families like mine. The connections to birthfamilies, different perspectives on searching and the stories of racial identity and awareness at a young age made the film very meaningful for me. Also, seeing the three young women juxtaposed with their childhood photos and stories made me feel as though I got a glimpse into the future for my daughter.

I feel that your film really gets to the heart of many of the complex issues in adoption through the voices of three amazing young women in a way that clearly captures so many aspects of life as an internationally adopted child that it is in a league of its own.

Again, bravo on an incredible film and many, many thanks to the young women who shared their stories and opened their hearts in the documentary.

Best Regards, Cathy

It was a very impressive film. I think it is important to get your film distributed, for other adoptees and parents to hear the words, love and emotion that came from these women as they told their story. They said how important it was to their lives to find out that they weren't alone in their thoughts and feelings, to have a support group and other adoptees to talk to. Your film is going to help SOOOO many people to come together and find that support. It really is an amazing thing you have done here Maria. Amazing and beautiful. Such a wonderful film. CONGRATULATIONS on a phenomenal film and screening.
